Devereaux, whose [paper] you returned to me is not [ ed] to the State and be to [ ] thought I could not see how by his discharge he could be ex- clouded and really now, I can not think he brings his case technically within Bothe the [ ] and the shield of the law---he did save the final ordeal [ ] accepted and I [ ] into the U S service--I filled one of [ ] quota--aftert this he may taken sic and discharge for the season-- It was a sickness not on him when he [ ] the service--it was a new matter--and in the same so far as his legal rights are concerned a though it had come on him two years and ten months after he [ ].
