Dr. Butler- I was going to make that very suggestion, and request that every witness be put under oath, and that the stenographer present should be accepted by the committee. I hope the Dr's suggestion will be carried out. I think it a very wise one

Mr. Eaton- I cannot conceive why we may not proceed to examine the witnesses here. We are not to touch in this examination- at least, I would not propose to- the interests of the trustees in particular, but the general character of the hospital, independent of the trustees entirely. And as I understand from what has been stated here that there are many witnesses present, I do not see why we cannot devote this afternoon, especially as we are not pressed with business, to the examination of such of them as are not connected at all with the trustees

Mr. Hill- I see no objection to that.

Mr. Dudley- There are persons here who have complaints to make. These complaints are going about the state house and all over the state. Gentlemen of the Committee have visited that hospital several times; and so far as I myself am concerned I haven't been able to discover any very great errors or any thing very wrong there
