Dear Wife it is with pleasure that I sit down this evening to answer your kind letter that I have just received and read & was very glad to here you was getting along so well but mary I was very anxious about her she has been sick so long but hope she will git about soon tell her to keep up good courage till father gets home you wanted me to write you if I got the letter with the money in it and the truth I got them both safe I intended to come home before we left Portland but they rushed us away all of a sudden so I could not I wanted some things from home but I do not know wether it is best to try to get them from
