[New Members. James Means, Hezekiah Torrey.] Mr James Means of Westbrook and Hezekiah Torry of Deer Isle, appeared, produced their credentials, were conducted before the officiating Governor and qualified, and took their seats.

On motion of Mr Sprague,

[Clerk to appoint, assistant clerk] Ordered, that the Clerk be directed to appoint forthwith an Assistant Clerk.

[J.G. Richardson appointed] And Mr John G Richardson was appointed accordingly

On motion of Mr Sprague [Messages to be communicated by Secretary of Senate and Clerk of the House] Ordered that all Messages from the Senate to the House of Representatives, and from the House of Representatives to the Senate be communicated by the Secretary of the Senate and Clerk of the House of Representatives, respectively; and that all papers be transmitted by them or their respective Assistants. Sent up for concurrence.

[Joint Committee to count votes for Governor.]

An order came from the Senate, appointing Messrs Tallman, Burnham and Dennet with such as the House may join, a committee to receive and count the votes given in by the several Towns & plantations in this State for Governor - which was concurred in by the House and Messrs Sprage, Emery, and Lewis were joined
