[Report on pet. of Elijah P Pike & others] The Committee on the petition of Elijah P Pike & others reported leave to withdraw. The report, accepted in the Senate, came down for concurrence — and the House concurred.

[Petition of Grand R. A. Chapter] Petition of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Maine to be incorporated — read and referred to the committee on incorporation for Parishes and other religious Societies and ministerial & School lands.

[Joshua Gage, acceptance as Counsellor.] A communication was received from Joshua Gage Esq- and read, signifying his acceptance as Counsellor.

[Convention proposed for qualification of Counsellors] Message from the Senate by Mr Sewall their secretary, Mr Speaker, The Senate propose a convention of both Houses in the Representatives Chamber at 11 oclock this day for the purpose of qualifying such Counsellors present as have accepted and not been qualified — and then the Secretary withdrew — The House concurred the Senate in their proposition and the Clerk was requested to acquaint the Senate therewith.

[Committee- on taxing quakers &c &c] On motion, in Senate, ordered that the committee on the subject of the militia be instructed to enquire into the expediency of taxing the members of any religious sector or demonstration in this State, exempted by law from the performance of military duty, for the purpose of creating a fund for the payment of pensions to wounded or invalid officers and soldiers, their widows & orphans, with leave to report by bill or otherwise. The order having passed in the Senate, came down for concurrence — and the House concurred.
