[Report - on business necessary to be acted upon &c] The committee appointed to consider what public business it will be necessary to act upon the present session reported the following subjects as necessary to be acted upon viz — The punishment of State Convicts — Costs in Criminal prosecutions — — The Circuit Court of Common Pleas — The claims of Masstts and Maine on the U.S.for Militia Services in the late war. The Militia Law — The Resolutions of the State of Maryland respecting the public lands belonging to U.S. The annual State tax & the taxing sales at Auction. The expediency of laying a tax on distilled spirits consumed within the State. The districting the State for the choice of Representations to Congress — The revision of the several laws of Massachusetts now in force within this state respecting poor debtors.

[Legislative may have a recess 1st Friday of FebY next. —] The committee further reported that the Legislature may have a recess on the first Friday of February next. The report accepted in the Senate came down for concurrence — and the House concurred.

[Pet. of Wm J Vaughan —] Petition of William J Vaughan Clerk of the Judicial Courts for the County of Cumerland, that a certain Execution issued by him may be made valid in law — read and referred to the committee on New Trials — Sent up for concurrence.
