Remonstrance of the Inhabitants of Freeport against the petition of Ansel Clark & others - Read and committed to the Committee appointed 27 instant on the apportionment of Representation on the several Counties, Towns and Classes.
[Committee - to tax Capital Stock of Insurance Companies &c]
Ordered That Messrs McCobb of Phipsburg Clapp of Portland & Libbey of Scarborough with such as the Senate may join be a Committee to enquire into the expediency of laying a tax upon the Capital Stock of Insurance Companies to be hereafter incorporated in this state and also to consider the property of taxing all other Insurance Companies. Read and passed.

Report on Petition of Elliot G. Vaughan with the order of notice thereon, came down from the Senate endorsed as follows. In Senate Jany 30th 1821 Vote of acceptance so far reconsidered as to order this report to lie on the table: and further ordered that the Report and petition be committed to Messrs Boutelle & Seaver with such as the House may join. Sent down for concurrence. Read and concurred and Messrs Marstin of Parsonsfield, Conant of Alfred & Hall of Frankfort are joined.
