I signed a petition some weeks since for Isaac Bearce for the Indian Agency upon his representation that Mr. Smith had held the office four years. I have since learned that Mr Smith has held the office but three years, have no objection to Mr Smith & would not have signed for Mr Bearce had I have known the facts G.H.
