8 [1824] [January 8] The Copy of the List of Votes in each of said Towns being returned without having been sealed up. Three votes in the copy of the list of votes in Castine, one vote in that of Hiram, and two votes in that of Plantation No. 2 - 7th Range in the County of Penobscot, were not counted, they having been inserted in the respective copies as scattering votes without the name of any person or persons for whom they were given.

They further report, that they do not find any return of votes from Thompson Pond Plantation, Winslow and Plantation No. 1 - 1st Range in the County of Oxford.

The foregoing Report was read and accepted.

On motion of Mr. Small, ordered that the Senate shall convene at nine O'clock A.M. and when they adjourn, shall adjourn to 3 O'clock P.M. until otherwise ordered.

Adjourned to 3 O'clock P.M.

[Pet: Sam Garland taken from files] Order of the House that the Senate be requested to take from their files and send down the petition of Samuel Garland in behalf of the Congregational Society in Parsonsfield, together with the accompanying papers, came up and was read, and the papers were sent down.

[Report on rules and orders] Mr. Dennett from the Committee appointed to prepare Rules and Orders for the government of the Senate, during the continuance of the present Legislature, reported a set of Rules and Orders, which were read and accepted.
