State of Maine.

To all persons to whom these presents shall come.

Greeting:

Whereas, before our Court of Common Pleas, begun and holden at Paris within and for our County of Oxford, on the fourth Tuesday of January, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine, Ephraim Hinkley & Oliver Hinkley of Plantation No one in our said county of Oxford, yeoman, were convicted of the Crime of Assault and Battery, and thereupon by our said Court were sentenced to pay a fine of ten dollars each, and costs of prosecution, taxed at fifty one dollars and sixty seven cents, and to recognize in the sum of one hundred dollars each, with sureties to keep the peace and be of good behaviour [behavior] for the term of two years; and they the said Ephraim & Oliver Hinkley have humbly supplicated Us for mercy;

Now Know Ye, That, upon full consideration of the premises, We do hereby remit to them the said Ephraim Hinkley & Oliver Hinkley, that part of the punishment aforesaid, which yet remains to be executed and grant to them the said Ephraim & Oliver Hinkley a full and free Pardon of the Crime aforesaid: of which all our Judges, Justices, Magistrates, and Officers of every denomination are to take notice.

Witness Enoch Lincoln, our Governor with the advice of our Council, and our Seal hereunto affixed, at Portland, the twenty ninth day of June, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine; and in the fifty third year of the Independence of the United States of America.
