[Seat of Government.]

The deed of a site for the Public buildings, from Joshua Gage & others of Augusta, to the State of Maine, and accompanying papers, taken from the last years files of the Senate, being sent down, agreeably to the request of this House of yesterday - on motion, the same were referred to Messrs McCobb of Phipsburg, Morrill of Wells and Bonney of Turner.

Mr Quinnam laid upon the Speakers table a deed of a piece of land from Warren Rice & als of Wiscasset to the State of Maine as a site for the Public buildings on certain conditions, which was referred to the last named committee.

The committee on the subject of prohibiting public treats on days of Election, reported a Bill - report read & accepted.

Bill to prevent intemperance excess and corruption on days of Election, was read once, and Tuesday next assigned for a 2d reading and referred to Messrs Watts of St George, Robbins of Union, Ayer of Newfield, Fessenden of Portland & Blaney of Bristol.

The committee to consider the expediency of exempting by law from taxation Manufacturing Companies &c reported a Bill - report accepted in Senate came down for concurrence & the House concurred.

Bill to exempt from taxation Manufacturing Companies of Cotton & Wool, Iron & Steel for a limited time - was read 1 & 2d time & Tuesday next at 10 oclock assigned for a 3d reading
