[Bills] The following bills were read and committed to the Committee on bills in the second reading - and tomorrow at ten o’clock assigned for the second reading to wit - Bill, passed to be engrossed in the House, to provide for the appointment of a Secretary of State, should that office become vacant - Bill for the relief of poor debtors - and a Bill to regulate the fishery in Dyer’s river and Nickel’s stream -

{Petition committed] The petition of I H Brackett praying that his doings as a Justice of the peace may be made valid - committed in the House to the Committee on New Trials came up for concurrence - Read and committed to the same Committee in concurrence with the House

[“] The petition of the Selectmen of Jay praying for leave to sell lands belonging to said town. Committed in the House to the Committee on Parishes &c came up for concurrence - read and committed to the same committee in concurrence with the House.

[Report on petition] Mr Buxton from the Committee on Incorporation of Parishes &c. reported on the petition of Stephen Heald & others - recommitted to said committee - that petitioners have leave to bring in a bill - Report read and accepted - Sent down for concurrence

[Committee on Pedlar Act] On motion - Ordered that Messrs Witham and Tuttle, with such as may be joined by the House - be a committee to take into consideration the expediency of repealing the second and third sections of an act passed February 10th 1821 - entitled An Act against Hawkers, Pedlars and petty chapmen with
