Bill to reduce the gross to the decimal hundred - was read a 3d time and refused a passage -

Bill to set off certain lands from Mount Vernon to Readfield was read a 1st & 2d time and tomorrow at 10 oclock assigned for a 3d reading.

The Committee on Militia and Military affairs to whom was referred sundry petitions praying for a revision of the Militia Law, reported that as a Bill on that subject is now before the Legislature, it is inexpedient to take any order in regard to said petitions - report accepted. Sent up for concurrence.

Ordered that Messrs Trask of Jefferson, Benson of China & Fogg of Limerick be a committee to consider the expediency of authorizing the Treasurer of the State to purchase fuel for the use of the several officers of the government and placing at his disposal a sufficient sum of money for that purpose - read and passed.

Ordered that Messrs Chase of Livermore, Dane of Kennebunk and Howard of Sidney be a committee to consider what sum it is necessary to place at the disposal of the Governor as a Contingent fund the ensuing political year - read & passed.
