Petition of Levi Stowell & als in behalf of Oxford Lodge that the same may be incorporated, was read and referred to the committee on the incorporation of Parishes &c. sent up for concurrence.
Bill – to establish the Portland Athenaeum, reported with amendments which were adopted, was read a third time & passed to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence.
Bill – an additional act respecting the Wiscasset Bank, was read a third time & passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.
Messrs Scamman and Kavanagh were added to the committee on engrossed bills.
Report of the committee to whom was referred the returns of the number of scholars &c, of an abstract of the same, came from the Senate ordered to be printed in all the news papers which publish the laws of the State for concurrence – and the House concurred.
Bill – altering the terms of the Court of Common Pleas in Lincoln County, came from the Senate, that branch nonconcurring the House in their proposed amendments – and the House so far reconsidered their votes as to pass the Bill to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.
Resolve authorizing the purchase of Books for the use of the Legislature, was read twice & passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.
Bill – to authorize John Patten & others to maintain a free bridge over Cathance River, was read a third time & passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.
