Resolved, that the rights of humanity the claims of justice, and the common good alike demand the suppression by Congress, of the slave trade carried on in and through the District of Columbia –

Resolve, that Congress has by the Constitution power to abolish slavery in the territories of the United States. Resolve, that no new State ought to be admitted into the Union whose constitution shall tolerate slavery. Resolved, that our Senators and Representatives in Congress be requested to use their utmost efforts to give effect to the foregoing resolves

Resolved, that the Governor be requested to forward a coppy [copy] of these resolves to each of the Senators and Representatives from Maine in Congress
