Dear Sir

It is with a sad heart I sit down to make known to you my request it is painful for me to do so i am just raised from a bed of Sickness As I am a widdow with 7 Children & the One that was my sole dependence is at Washington in the defence of his Country Samuel Nash he is in the 2 Maine Regt Col Jameson his Commander he is with the rest of his comrads who stood firm in the hour of tryal [trial] he is uninjourd except a lameness which is unknown to me and as my circumstances are such that I need him at home to assist me in takeing care of a helpless family My Oldest son at home is Cripel [crippled] My Oldest daughter is out at
