E. L. Appleton.,Dr. A. D. Palmer and myself respectively acting as Sergeant Major Hospital Steward & Qr Master Sergeant have received no bounty while those acting in the same capacities in other regiments have done so. When the Regiment received their bounty at Bangor on May 14th Gen. Hersey informed us that we were not enlisted men & therefore entitled to no bounty, By the United States Officers we are regarded as holden for three years from the fact that we took the oath at Willets Point on May 28 in company with the other Staff officers.
