Mr Holland came with a message from the Senate to inform this House of their organization by the election of Jonas Wheeler Esquire President, and Charles B Smith Esquire Secretary.

Messrs Elisha J Ford returned as a member from Alna &c " Samuel Stephenson returned as a member from Gorham - " John Eveleth returned as a member from Windham - & " Robert Stuart returned as a member from class of Etna &c, presented their credentials, were duly qualified and took their seats as members of this House.

Ordered, that Messrs Spring of Saco, Shaw of Northport, Humphrey of Gray, Richardson of Portland & Chase of Livermore, be a committee to engage, or receive proposals for a Door Keeper and Page for the House of Representatives the ensuing political year, provided that any contract which may be made shall be subject to revision by the House - read & passed.

Ordered, that the rules and orders of last year be observed by the House until a system shall be reported & adopted by the present Legislature. Read & passed.

Ordered that Messrs Williams of Augusta, Goodenow of Alfred, Quinnam of Wiscasset, Fessenden of Portland, and Allen of Norridgewock be a committee to report a code of rules & regulations for the government of the House the present session. - read & passed.

Ordered, that when this adjourns, it adjourn until three o'clock this afternoon.
