Ordered that Messrs Snow of Frankfort, Eveleth of Windham & Chase of Unity be a committee with such as the Senate may join to take into consideration what if any alteration is necessary in the act concerning the assessment & collection of taxes - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

Ordered that the committee on the subject of Courts of Sessions be requested to report as soon as may be - read & passed. sent up for concurrence.

Bill to annex Daniel Shaw to the town of Westbrook, was read a 3d time & passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.

Bill to incorporate the town of Whiting, was read a 3d time & passed to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence.

The Committee on the subject of the incorporation of the East River Sluice Company reported a Bill - report accepted.

Bill additional to an act to incorporate the East River Sluice Company was read 1st & 2d time & tomorrow at 10 oclock assigned for a 3d reading.

The Committee on engrossed Bills reported as duly engrossed, Resolve relative to the Printing for the State - - relating to Genl. La Fayette which were finally passed. Sent up for concurrence.

The House reconsidered their vote assigning today, and assigned 8th Feby next to come to the choice of a Major General for 8th Division.

Petition of Joseph Chandler & als for a Bank at Augusta, referred in Senate to the committee on Banks & Banking came down for concurrence & the House concurred.
