On motion of Mr Adams of Portland, Ordered that the Committee on Finance be instructed to consider and report what sum it is expedient to raise the present year by way of a State Tax on Polls + Estate - read + passed.

Remonstrances of Benjamin Witham +als agst the petition of the Inh of Burnham -

- of John Larrabee 2nd +als of Unity agst  annexation of said town to Kennebec County - 
- of Thomas Bellows +als agst the annexation of Freedom to Kennebec County

were severally read + referred to the committee on the incorporation of towns. Sent up for concurrence.

Remonstrance of Ballard Green +als against the petition of the Selectmen of Thomaston for a change in the Lime Inspec tion laws, was read + referred to the committee on manu factures. Sent up for concurrence.

Bill to incorporate the Maine Mutual Fire Insurance Company was read a third time + passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.
