Agreeably to assignment at 11 oclock the Senate proceeded to ballot for the choice of a Major General of the fourth Division of the Militia of this State, The Committee reported that the whole number of votes was 17 Necessary to constitute an election 9 Samuel Veasey has - 9 Richard T. Dunlap 8 and there is one blank ballot

Samuel Veasey was thereupon declared elected, on the part of the Senate and, on motion a message was sent to the House of Representatives informing them thereof and requesting their concurrence,

Mr. Pond from the Committee in State Lands to whom was referred the Governors message of the second of February instant accompanied by a communication from the Commissioners under the "Act for separating Maine from Massachusetts relating to their proceedings the year past, and to measure by them contemplated to be effected the present year reported.
