On motion by Mr Herrick, Ordered that the following be adopted as one of the Rules and orders of the Senate "Every member who shall present a petition shall place his name thereon, and briefly state its subject and the reading thereof by the President shall be dispensed with unless called for by some member - also the reading of any petition which has been committed in the House of Representatives and sent up to the Senate for concurrence shall be dispensed with, the President briefly stating its subject unless called for by some member.

On motion by Mr Cutler Ordered that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of providing by Law that the widows of testators who waived the provision made for them in the will of their late husbands and claim dower may nevertheless be entitled to their apparel
