Agreeably to assignment the two branches of the Legislature assembled in the Representatives Chamber, and proceeded by ballot to supply the deficiencies in the Senate in those cases where no election had been made by the people - The whole number of votes given in, to supply the deficiency in the district of Hancock was One hundred and sixty one - necessary to constitute a choice eighty one - Andrew Witham had one hundred & twenty eight and was declared duly elected - The whole number of votes given in to supply the deficiency in the district of Washington was one hundred and sixty two - necessary to constitute a choice - eighty two - Obadiah Hill had One hundred and sixteen and was declared duly elected.

The Senators then withdrew.

An order came from the Senate for concurrence appointing Messrs. Cushman, Emerson & Page with such as the House may join a committee to wait on the Governor elect, Enoch Lincoln Esqr, and inform him that he has been elected by the people Governor of the State of Maine for the current political year; and that the two Houses of the Legislature are ready to convene in the Representatives chamber, that in their presence he may take and subscribe the oaths of office required by the Constitution, and to receive any communication he may be pleased to make unto them - and the House concurred and Messrs Holmes of Alfred, Adams of Portland, Ruggles of Thomaston, Fiske of Fayette and Stevens of Bluehill were joined.
