Bills – in addition to an act to establish the Cony Female Academy - to set off Washington Remick from Kittery to Elliot - having been reported as duly engrossed, were passed to be enacted. Sent up for concurrence.

Mr Hill of Machias has leave of absence after Thursday next.

Ordered that Messrs Burr of Litchfield, Hill of Lyman & Howard of Sidney be a committee with such as the Senate may join to enquire and report what public business is necessary to be acted upon the present session and report at what time the Legislature may have a recess – read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

Ordered that the committee on State Lands be instructed to inquire into the expediency of requiring the Land Agent annually to state to the Legislature the names of the several persons to whom he has sold lands, where said lands are situated, and the quantity sold to each person, the price at which each tract was sold, the credit on which the same was sold, and the names of the sureties, and the amount of money paid to the Agent by each purchaser of land; also to consider the expediency of altering the law on this subject as to make it the duty of the land Agent to take all notes or securities for land, payable to the State of Maine, and that he be required annually to account with the Treasurer of the State for all monies & securities by him received for land sold by him – read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.
