Monday February 13th 1826.

Met according to adjournment.

Message was received from the Governor dated Feby 9th 1826 transmitting a communication from the acting Quarter Master General [see appendix page 276.] which with the accompanying documents were referred in concurrence with the Senate to the committee on Military Affairs.

Petition of Amos Nichols that certain fees may be remitted to him, came from the Senate referred to Messrs Green & Churchill with such as the House may join. The House concurred and Messrs Evans of Gardiner, Dyer of Vinalhaven & Willet of Bridgton were joined

Petition of William Cole & others for an alteration of the law providing for the enlistment of the Thomaston Guards, came from the Senate referred to the committee on Military Affairs for concurrence – and the House concurred.

An order came from the Senate for concurrence, instructing the Committee on Literature and Literary Institutions to inquire into the expediency of providing that the Governor of the State shall ex officio be a member of the Board of Trustees of Bowdoin College. & the House concurred.

Bill to incorporate the town of Carthage, was read a third time & passed to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence.

Bill to incorporate the Portland Nautical Society, was read a third time & passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.
