Reports – on the petitions of Jeremiah Gordon & als - - of Davis Libby & als - granting orders of notice, came from the Senate accepted for concurrence – and the House concurred.
Reports – of the Committees on the orders instructing them to inquire “if any alterations are necessary as respects cost in criminal prosecutions” & “to consider the expediency of amending an act respecting, Executors &c, and the conveyance of real estate in certain cases” – that legislation on those subjects is unnecessary, came from the Senate accepted for concurrence and the House concurred.
Ordered that Messrs Adams of Portland, Boutelle of Waterville & Jewett of Bowdoinham be a committee to consider the expediency of authorizing the Treasurer of this State to borrow on loan a sum not exceeding ten thousand dollars if necessary, to defray the expenses of government the present year, and also to authorize the Treasurer of this State to demand and receive all monies that may become due to this State from Massachusetts an account of any monies that may be received from the United States an [on] account of Militia services performed during the late War – read & passed.
