Petition of Samuel Kennedy & als, inhabitants, of Patricktown Plantation praying relief from taxation, was read & referred to the committee on Finance.
Agreeably to assignment the House took up the consideration of the Preamble & Order moved by Mr Boutelle of Waterville yesterday, and amended the Order by filling the blank at A with the following words viz "On Monday next at half past two o'clock in the afternoon," and then Mr Ruggles further moved to amend by striking out the Preamble - but before this question was taken the House adjourned, to meet at two oclock this afternoon[underlined].

The House took up the consideration of the Preamble & Order moved yesterday by [crossout] Mr Boutelle - the question being at the last adjournment on amending, by striking out the Preamble, and this question was taken yeas & nays and decided in the negative as follows yeas 67. nays 73. [See appendix page 307] Mr White of Monmouth moved to strikeout of the Preamble the words "have a President of the Senate of last year, claiming to act as Governor, when it is evident a Governor has been elected by the people" which motion after some discussion was withdrawn. Mr Smith of Nobleborough then moved to strike out the worlds " claiming to act[underlined]" and insert instead thereof the word "acting[underlined]" and the motion prevailed. The House then passed the preamble & order an amended - and this question was taken by yeas & nays and decided as follows yeas 74 nays 65. [see appendix page 311]
