� We Sargants except on minute and call on Brigadeer Genl Bartlett 115 Sunday January 1st 1865 Camp 20th Me Vols on the Jerusalem Plank Rd. A fair day. An invitation is extended to the sargts of the Brigade to make Genl Bartlett our brigade commander a visit at his headquarters between 3 & 5 oclock PM tomorrow 2d We went to visit Genl Bartlett and had quite a good time. This is new years visit. I have a letter confirming the death of my brother Prentis. He died at one oclock Sept 7th 1864 at Anderson Ga, a prisoner of war. Starved to death by the enemy.

3d No news 4th Sargt Winslow [Joseph H Winslow?] went to City Point on 24 hour pass. No news of importence. 5th We drew clothing. 6th Showry in the morning. Sergt Winslow returned at 9 oclock in the evening. It rained hard all day. 7th Showers hard all night. Cold P.M. 8th Cold and some wind. Had an inspection at 10 oclock A.M. Divine service at 12 oclock P.M.
