Ordered that the Petition of the Selectmen of Waterford be taken from the files and laid on the table; which was referred to the Committee on New Trials. Sent down for concurrence and came up concurred.

[Message from the Governor]

The Secretary of State came in and laid on the Table a special message from the Governor relating to the formation of a new Division of the militia of this State. Read and sent down.

[order respecting fisheries in Piscataqua River]

Order of the House that the Committee on Interior Fisheries be instructed to enquire what alterations and additions are necessary in the laws regulating the fisheries in Piscataqua river, with leave to report by a Bill or otherwise, came up for concurrence & was concurred.

[Committee on the establishment of a Police Court]

On motion of Mr. Churchill, Ordered that Messrs. Churchill and Parlin with such as the House may join, be a Committee to take into consideration the expediency of establishing a Police Court in Portland which shall have exclusive jurisdiction of all such offences, crimes and misdemeanors, as may be committed in said town, and as are now by law cognizable by justices of the peace, with leave to report by Bill or otherwise. Sent down for concurrence, was concurred and Messrs. Fessenden, Ricker and Smith were joined.
