� Colonel Gilmore returned from Washington 109 29th All quiet along the line. Heavy fireing on the right in the evening. 30th Quite cold and we are fixing up quarters. 31st We were mustered for pay.

Nov 1st 1864 In camp at Fort Canady Va Sunday A fair day. No news of importense. 2d Cloudy in the morning. Comensed to rain at noon. Some picket firing in evening. 3d Rainy in the morning. Cleard of A.M. 4th A fair day but cold. No news of importense. 5th We cleard up a new camp ground. Orders to move next monday. 6th Divine service at eleven oclock A.M. Colonel Gilmore [Charles D. Gilmore] came to the regt. 7th Rainy in the morning. No news of importens. 8th " " " " We had a presidential election. Comensed at 10 oclock A.M. 9th Showery in the A.M. We are [inserted] at work getting tent stuff. 10th A fair day. We have not moved yet. 11th We moved on to the new ground. Had a dress parade at night, the first one since we left the weldon R.R.
