Met according to adjournment

Ordered that Messrs Carpenter of Howland, Swan of Portland & Ingalls of Bridgton be a committee with such as the Senate may join to contract with some suitable person to draft Bills and Resolves for the Legislature the present session - read and passed. Sent up for concurrence.

An order came from the Senate for concurrence directing that all messages, between the two Houses be communicated by the Secretary of the Senate and Clerk of the House of Representatives, and that all papers be transmitted by them or their Assistants - and the House concurred.

The committee appointed yesterday to contract with some suitable person or persons to perform the duties of Messenger and Page, reported that they have contracted with Thomas Baker to perform those duties by himself, one other person, and a Page, at the compensation of four dollars & fifty cents per day - and the report was accepted.

Richard Higgins of Eden &c.. appeared, presented his credentials as a member, was qualified and took his seat.

A message was received from the Senate by Me Hutchinson their Secretary proposing a convention of both Houses in the Representatives Chamber at eleven oclock this forenoon for the purpose of coming to the choice by ballot of a Senator to supply the deficiency of a Senator for the County of Hancock occasioned by a nonelection by the people, and informing the House that Joshua Hall & Joseph Shaw are the constitutional Candidates for that district - also
