The speaker announced his appointment of the following members as monitors - viz Joseph Lord of Newport for the Western Division, James Williams of Readfield for the Middle Division, Nathaniel Clark of Limington for the Eastern Division

The Speaker laid before the House a communication received from Elias Thomas Esqr Treasurer of State, transmitting the Annual Report on the State of the Finances for the year 1827.

On motion of Mr Swan of Portland, Ordered that the joint standing committee on the Judiciary be directed to enquire into the expediency of altering the law respecting Hogshead Shooks & Heading exported from this State - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

On motion of Emerson of Portland Ordered that the joint standing Committee on the Judiciary be directed to inquire into the expediency of altering the existing laws relative to poor debtors. - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

A message was received from the Senate by Mr Hutchinson their Secretary, informing the House that the Senate have voted to hold but one session each day to commence at nine oclock in the morning excepting on Mondays and on Mondays at ten oclock in the forenoon - and thereupon the House voted to hold but one session each day, to commence at nine oclock in the morning excepting on Mondays, and on Mondays at 10 oclock in the morning.
