Brunswick Aug 15th 1862

Dear Col,

As the Governor must be much occupied, I address a note] to you in regard to some matters in the 20th Regt.

I have had a great many applications for staff appointments, &have taken some pains to look into their merits, and if I have any thing to say about them I would suggest the following.

Mr. A. L. Loring of Yarmouth for Quartermaster. He makes out a strong case.

Mr. Henry S. B. Smith of Brunswick Sergeant Major. The Governor will recollect Smith's claims.

Thomas D. Chamberlain of Bangor
