117. The committee on Literature & Literary Institutions to whom was referred so much of the Governors Message as relates to a good Map and Gazetteer, with correct statistical accounts - reported that such a Map & Gazetteer & statistical accounts are highly important to the State, and that whenever faithfully published the Legislature will not fail to patronize such a work, with a liberality proportionate to its importance - and the House accepted the report with the Senate.

Reports on the petitions of George Thatcher - - of William Waugh - - of Samuel Chase & others - granting leave to withdraw, came from the Senate accepted for concurrence - and the House concurred

Reports on the Petitions of Samuel Jackson & others - - of Abiel Wood & others respecting Bridges Bridge - on the Bill establishing County Workhouses &c &c - referring the same to the next Legislature, came from the Senate accepted for concurrence - and the House concurred.

Report on the order to inquire into the expediency of giving to Judges of Probate authority to license the sale of real estate by Executors &c &c or other persons, that it is not expedient to Legislate upon the subject, came from the Senate accepted for concurrence - and the House concurred.

Petition of Nahum Morrill & als on the subject of the location of the Courts in the County of York, was read & referred to the select committee of both Houses on that subject. Sent up for concurrence.

Bill - establishing the County of Waldo, was taken up - Mr Evans moved to strike out the towns within the County of Kennebec & on motion the question was put first on striking out the town of Montgomery which did not prevail - The question was then put on striking out the remaining towns of
