Met according to adjournment.

Report of the committee on the order directing them to inquire into the expediency of altering the law respecting the collection of taxes assessed for building & repairing School Houses, that legislation is unnecessary on that subject, came down accepted in Senate for concurrence - and the House concurred.

Reports on the petition, of the Selectmen of Portland - - of Frederic Greene & als, referring the same to the next Legislature, came down accepted in Senate for concurrence. - and the House concurred.

Report on the petition of Joseph Stockbridge & al - granting an Order of Notice, came down accepted for concurrence - and the House concurred.

Petition of John Neal & als for a law to make believers "in the final happiness of all mankind," witnesses in Courts of Justice, was read & referred to the committee on the Judiciary - Sent up for concurrence.

On motion of Mr Gower of Abbot, Ordered, That Messrs Gower of Abbot, Lothrop of Leeds and Wentworth of Lebanon, be a committee to take into consideration the expediency of allowing the inhabitants of towns and plantations in which lands were granted to Bowdoin & Waterville Colleges & other Literary Institutions by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts without being subject to taxation until by said institutions granted, to draw from the Treasury of this State annually a sum equal to what the nonresident tax would be on such lands as remain the property of said Institution - read & passed.
