Mrs. Henry Beston Chimney Farm Nobleboro, Maine
Dear Elizabeth Coatsworth:
Once in a while, we stop to contemplate all the things you accomplish, and we are amazed! When one thinks of book after book, of their skilfully wrought verse or prose, and of your familiarity in so varied fields, it is incredible. Your gardening and homemaking activities, and any number of other pursuits, together with your remarkable literary harvest, combine to make a distinguished career.
We don't write to you about the books that are not of a Maine nature, but this season we are especially happy over two: DOLLAR FOR LUCK and THE ENCHANTED. These will go into our traveling libraries, and we owe a debt to you for providing good books that seize the attention and leave a memory or worth.
We hope that the Maine Author Collection, too, may be enriched by the inclusion of inscribed copies. Our good wishes to you, and a lasting and gratifying success to the books.
Sincerely yours
In Charge of Maine Author Collection
