Saturday February 28th, 1829

[Com: from Levi Hubbard Counsillor] A communication from Levi Hubbard accepting the office of Counsillor was received, read and Sent down

[Resolve giving additional power to Justices of the Peace] Bill giving additional power to Justices of the Peace in certain cases was read once and Monday 11 oClock for a 2nd reading

[Message proposing a Convention] On motion by Mr. French, Ordered that a message be sent to the House of Representatives proposing a Convention forthwith for the purpose of qualifying, Levi Hubbard Esq. Counsellor elect for the District of Oxford and Somerset for the discharge of his official duties.

[Convention & Counsellor Qualified] Agreeably to assignment the two Houses met in Convention when Levi Hubbard came in and in presence of both Houses of the Legislature and before the President of the Senate took and subscribed the oaths required by the Constitution to qualify him for the discharge of his official duties. The convention then separated.

In Senate

[Bill for the promotion of education] Bill additional to an Act providing for the promotion of education, came up and the Senate adhere to their vote postponing this Bill indefinitely. Sent down for concurrence.

[Resolve respecting the Tariff] Report of the Committee on that part of the Governor's speech relating to the Tariff was taken up accepted and the Resolve respecting the Tariff accompanying the same passed to be engrossed. Sent down for concurrence.

[Bill additional for the regulation of Innholders] Bill additional to an Act for the regulation of Innholders &c came up in a new draft which the Senate adopt and pass to be engrossed as in this new draft amended.
