The Secretary of State came in and laid on the table a written message from the governour transmitting a report of the Land agents of Massachusetts and Maine, which was read and ordered to lie on the table; and ordered that five hundred copies of said report be printed for the use of the Legislature.

On motion of Mr Meqquier, ordered, that the Secretary of State be directed to furnish the agent appointed to repair to Washington, six copies of Greenleaf's map of Maine, and also to each of our Members in Congress a copy of Greenleaf's map of the principal rivers, mountains, and highlands &c and also to said agent ten copies of the map last mentioned. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

On motion of Mr Burnham, Ordered, that Messrs Burnham and Thompson, with such as the House may join, be a committee to consider the expediency of ordering by law that the land agent deposit with the Treasurer of State all notes and securities he may now have, and those he may hereafter receive on account of the sales of public lands. Sent down for concurrence. Came up concurred, and Messrs Cole, Bryant, and Wright of the House were joined.

On motion of Mr Sweat, ordered, that the committee on the Senatorial votes be instructed to enquire and report who are the Constitutional candidates in the first senatorial District to fill the vacancy at this Board occasioned by the decrease of the Hon. Benjamin Pike.
