The petition of certain inhabitants of Penobscot county, for a new county, was read and referred to the committee on the Incorporation of towns, in concurrence.

Order from the House, instructing the committee on the militia to enquire into the expediency of purchasing a piece of land in the town of Freeport for the location of a Gun house, read and passed, in concurrence.

Mr Talbot, from the committee on Turnpikes, Bridges, and Canals, reported an order of notice on the petition of Jonathan C. Everett and others, read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence.

Mr Merrill, from the committee on the Division of towns, reported an order of notice on the petition of Jonathan Bartlett and others, read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence.

Bill in addition to the several acts to regulate the jurisdiction and proceedings of Courts of Probate was read and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary, in concurrence.

Bill, respecting the appointment of Clerks of the Judicial Courts, was read a second time and laid on the table.

Order from the House of Representatives, requesting the Senate to take from their files the petition of J.B. Harvey and others, and send the same down to the House, read and request granted.
