[Petitions refered.] The petition of the People's society of Waldo county, for an Act abolishing imprisonment for debt, was read and referred to the Joint standing committee to whom was referred so much of the Governor's message as relates to that subject - in concurrence.

The petition of the same Society for Legislative aid, was read and referred to the Joint standing committee on Agriculture in concurrence.

[Report on the pet. of Selectmen of Phillips] The report of the Committee on Parishes on the petition of the Selectmen of Phillips, was taken up and recommitted to the same committee. Sent down for concurrence. concurred.

[Pet. refered.] The petition of Elisha Pettingill and others, for a Bridge Corporation at Livermore falls, was read and referred to the Joint standing committee on Turnpikes, Bridges and Canals, in concurrence.

[Bill recommitted.] An Act authorizeing the town of Portland to elect street commissioners, was read a second time, and recommitted to the committee on the Judiciary. Sent down for concurrence. concurred.

[Bill read once.] An Act regulating the practise [practice] of physic and surgery, was read once, and laid on the table.
