A Communication was received from the Clerk of the Courts in Oxford County in compliance with an order of the 13th instant which was read and referred to the Select Committee of this House who have this subject under under consideration

Agreeably to assignment the two Houses met in convention in the Representatives Chamber for the purpose of choosing a State Treasurer for the present year, Messrs Thayer and Merrile of of the Senate, Messrs Hamlin of Columbia, Swett of Prospect and Lavery of Palmyra were appointed a Committee to receive sort and count the votes who having attended to the duty assigned them, reported the whole number of votes given to be one hundred and seventy three - necessary to constitute an election eighty seven - Abner B. Thompson had one hundred and twenty six and was declared elected. And the convention separated.

Mr Wentworth of Kittery was appointed a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Turnpikes and Canals - and Mr. Bradford of Tuner was appointed a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Agriculture - and the Clerk by Message acquainted the Senate therewith.
