14 of the Legislature met in Convention in the Representatives Hall, when Robert P. Dunlap the Governor elect, attended by the Governor and Council, Secretary of State, Treasurer and Adjutant General and preceded by a Deputy Sheriff of the county of Kennebec came in and took and subscribed the oath required by the constitution to qualify him to enter upon the discharge of his official duties and the Secretary of State made Proclamation thereof and the Convention separated.

Mr. Dumont of Hallowell was charged with a Message to the Governor that the House was organized and in session and ready to receive any communication which he might be pleased to make.

The Secretary of State came in and laid upon the Speakers table a written message from the Governor addressed to both branches of the Legislature - which was read by the Speaker and ordered to lie on the table and one thousand copies thereof ordered to be printed for the use of the members.

Mr. Clapp of Portland appeared presented his credentials was qualified and took his seat.
