The House adhere to their former vote referring to the next Legislature, Resolve providing for the erection of a monument over the remains of Enoch Lincoln, and the Clerk by message communicated the same.
Petition of Hezekiah Winslow and others for a Marine Insurance Company in Portland was read and referred to the Committee on Banks and Banking. Sent up for concurrence.
Report on petition of Gould Hathorn and others was read and recommitted to the committee on Turnpikes, Bridges and Canals, with instructions to report a statement of facts. Sent up for concurrence.
The Committee on Engrossed Bills reported as duly engrossed Bill additional to an Act directing the method of laying out and making provision for the repair and amendment of highways and the same was passed to be enacted. Sent up.
The same Committee reported as duly engrossed Resolve in favor of Nathaniel Fernald - in favor of Rufus L. Wright - in favor of Daniel Lindsay and six others - respecting the Township numbered one in the twelfth Range in Penobscot county which were finally passed. A message was received from the Senate by their Secretary transmitting a confidential communication from the Governor, which was laid upon the Speaker's table. (see secret journal)
