Petition of the Exchange Bank for an increase of Capital, " of A.G. Brown and others to be incorporated into a Banking Company, were severally read and with the accompanying papers, were referred to the Committee on Banks and Banking. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

Petition of Inhabitants of School District No. 2, in the town of Phillips, praying for a sum of money to be granted them to build a School House in said District, " of Ashur Ware and Nathan Weston Jr. Committee of the Maine Historical Society, Report and accompanying papers in relation to the appointment of a Superintendant [Superintendent] of Public Schools, Petition of the Trustees of Anson Academy for pecuniary aid, " of Trustees of Bowdoin College that the State would assume the defence of an action brought against them by William Allen, were severally read & with the accompanying papers referred to the Committee on Literature & Literary Institutions.
