Knowlton, with such as the House may join, to consider the expediency of so amending the first section, third part of the fourth article of said Constitution, which provides that the Legislature shall convene on the first Wednesday of January annually, that said Legislature shall convene on the second or third Wednesday in August annually, and of passing a Resolve empowering and directing the Selectmen of the several towns and the Assessors of the several plantations, to notify the inhabitants thereof to give in their votes on the question, at their next annual meeting in the month of September, agreeable to the several provisions of said Constitution. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred, and Messrs. Prince, Tuttle, Marshall, Lord, Kimball, Batchelder, Sylvester, Sabine, Hutchins and Pilsbury are joined.

Preamble and Resolves from the House respecting the establishment of a branch of the Military Academy at West Point, in this, and in each of the States in the Union. Read and indefinitely postponed, in concurrence.

The Committee on engrossed Bills reported as correctly engrossed, Bill to incorporate the Hallowell Harmonic Society, Bill additional to an act to incorporate the Portland Mutual Fire Insurance Company, and the same were severally passed to be enacted

The same Committee reported as correctly engrossed Resolve in favor of Elliot G. Vaughan and the same was finally passed.
