1834. Wednesday February 19.

Bill to organize, govern, and discipline the Militia of this State, came up form the House further amended. The Senate recede from their vote passing said Bill to be engrossed, adopt the amendments proposed by the House, and pass the same to be engrossed by the House, and pass the same to be engrossed as thus amended, in concurrence.

Petition of Stockholders of Bath Bank, for extension of time to close their business, was read & referred to the Committee on Banks and Banking, in concurrence.

Resolve in favor of William V. & Oliver Moses was taken up, read a second time and indefinitely postponed. Sent down for concurrence.

Bill fixing the time for taking the valuation for the purpose of the assessment of taxes, was taken up, and read a second time, and the question of passing said Bill to be engrossed, being ordered to be taken by yeas and nays, was decided in the negative as follows, to wit. Yeas. Messrss Knowlton, Tobin & Williamson 3 Nays. Messrss Allen, Bradbury, Bridgham, Brown, Cobb, Chandler, Emmons, Farnham, Frye, Groton, Howard, Kelsey, Labaree, Manning, Pease, Pierce Porter, Prescott, and Smith 19 and the said Bill, on motion of Mr. Pease, was indefinitely postponed. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

Bill to provide for the instruction of youth, reported by Mr. Cobb from the Joint Select Committee on the alteration of laws regulating the education of Youth, was ordered to lie on the table, and that three hundred copies of said Bill and Report be printed for the use of the
