Order from the House of Representatives appointing Messrs O'Brien, Lake and Miller, with such as the Senate may join, to consider the expediency of adopting a rule, by which such towns as have not returned their number of scholars, may be entitled to a fair proportion of the Bank tax, set apart for the use of primary schools by an Act of the last Legislature, read and passed, & Messrs. Farnham and Porter are joined in concurrence.

The Committee on Claims to which was referred the petition of the Overseers of the Poor of the town of Hodsdon, reported that the claim of said petitioners ought not to be allowed, - read and accepted in concurrence.

Resolve for amendments to the Constitution of the State came up - The House insisting on their vote whereby they amended said Resolve & refusing the same a passage, and proposing a Conference and appoint as Conferees, on their part, Messrs. Jewett of Portland, Vose of Augusta and Robinson of Bethel. The Senate concur the House in their proposition for a Conference and appoint as Conferees on their part, Messrs Bradbury, Kelsey and Smith.

The Report of the Committee on Turnpikes, Bridges & Canals on petition of William Pike and others, recommending the appointment of G.M. Chase, S.S. Whipple and Lewis Wilson a viewing Committee, was taken up, read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.
