A communication was received from Asaph Nichols signifying his acceptance as Secretary of State.
Petition of the Selectmen of Kennebunkport for an amendment of the Constitution, was read & referred to Messrs Perkins of Kennebunkport, Chase of Camden, Chadbourne of Standish, Stanely of Dixfield, Eastman of Strong, McDowell of Washington, Davis of Mt Vernon, Whitmore of Kirkland, Bridges of Charlotte & Lake of Bucksport with such as the Senate may join.
Bill An Act additional providing for the punishment of certain crimes & for the prevention thereof, taken from the Senate files of last year came down referred to Messrs Purinton, Robinson, Allen, Kelsey and Strickland with such as the House may join - and the House concurred & Messrs Mildram of Wells, Gerry of Waterford, Cunningham of Swanville, Webb of Bloomfield, White of Windham, Allen of Bangor, Holt of Bluehill, Purrington of Bowdoinham, Packard of Houlton & Tabor of Vassalboro were joined.
An order came from the Senate referring so much of the Governors Message as relates to Agriculture to the joint standing Committee on Agriculture for concurrence - and the House concurred.
