133. Raymond, Clerk of the Judicial Courts for Washington County on the subject of capital offenses and convictions since 1823 - and referred in concurrence with the Senate to the Committee on Capital Punishments, & -

Resolve for the benefit of the town of Kilmarnock reported by the Committee on engrossed Bills as duly engrossed was on motion of Mr Adams of Lincoln assigned for consideration at 10 oclock on Thursday next.

The Committee on engrossed Bills reported as duly engrossed Bill - An Act to alter & define the Criminal Jurisdiction of the Judicial Courts - - " authorizing the first Congregational Parish in the town of Kittery to sell Parsonage Lands - " to incorporate the Bluehill Fishing Company - " enlarging the powers of Constables in the town of East Machias - which were severally passed to be enacted. Sent up for concurrence

The same Committee reported as duly engrossed - Resolve, for the purchase of a Library for the use of the Legislature which was finally passed. Sent up for concurrence.

On motion by Mr Tiffany of Sidney Ordered, That the Hon. Justices of the Supreme Judicial Courts be requested to give to the Legislature now assembled their opinion on the following question - viz If the Legislature shall abolish the punishment of death, will the crime of murder become, by the Constitution; a bailable offence? Sent up for concurrence.
