Messrs, Emmons and Mantor, for special reasons, were excused from voting.

Resolve providing for the purchase and distribution of the Northern Shepherd was read the second time. Mr Purinton moved to indefinitely postpone the same; and the question of indefinite postponement, being ordered to be taken by yeas and nays was decided in the affirmative, as follows to wit Yeas Messrs. Allen, Barnard, Brown, Chandler, Clark, Fish, F Greene, C Greene, Latham, Miller, McLellan, O'Brien, Pierce, Purinton, Randall, Smith and Tobin - 17 Nays Messrs, Burnham, Emmons, Farnham, Mantor, and McIntire - 5 Sent down for concurrence

Bill to incorporate the Moosehead Lake Steam Navigation Company, was read the second time and the same, on motion of Mr McLellan, was ordered to lie on the table, till tomorrow ten o'clock.

The report of the Joint Select Committee, that the petition of the inhabitants of New Gloucester, praying for an amendment of the Constitution of this State restricting the tenure of Judicial Officers, be referred to the next Legislature, and, in the meantime be published in all the newspapers that publish the laws of the State, was taken up. Mr Greene of Somerset moved to indefinitely postpone the same; and the question of indefinite postponement being ordered to be taken by yeas and nays, was decided in the affirmative, as follows, to wit.
